Hannah's culinary repertoire is expanding. She cooked bacon for us this morning. All the doggies (and people) were waiting for their share. I had to buy some store bought eggs to keep up with Hannah's cooking. What a sad looking bunch of eggs compared to our home grown. The yolks were a pale sickly yellow with runny whites. It made me appreciate my girls, but I'm worried that some of them might be egged out. Chickens only produce a finite number of eggs before "retiring." I do not kill my animals when they are finished producing, eggs, fiber, whatever, but let them live out their years relaxing for all their hard labor. As long as I have my teaching job I can manage it (fingers crossed, both hands.)
