In the Bag

Okay, so I couldn't go to Maryland Sheep and Wool. Get over it and get busy. I'm always busy, so that's not a problem. Steve and his boys came over to work on the barn apt. The grid to place the wood floor on is down now. Hopefully the red pine floor will go down this coming week. So much more to do before I can move in. Then I will truly be living with the sheep. Trying to get ready for New Hampshire Sheep and Wool next weekend. Found my old Grand Funk Railroad CD with Captain, My Captain on it. Terrific working music! I am still playing with soap. It didn't come out quite the way I hoped. It smells great but feels more like that lye soap you buy to dry up your poison ivy. It's not cutting right, either. I made shaving blocks out of most of it, and ordered pine dished and shaving brushes from Cotton Blossom. After a few emails discussing USPS vs. UPS they are coming UPS...in time, I hope, I hope. The big funky chunks of soap are a big hit, and don't need to be wrapped, which is impossible at this late time, anyway. I have several knitting bags cut out and one on the machine - a lovely red medallion print tapestry, light as a feather, too. A funny thing happened last year. I made a rather big bag out of some heavyweight tapestry chenille. I didn't have much of this fabric left so made one big bag to use it all up. You could have put a spinning wheel in it. Several people came into my booth at Rhinebeck and said they loved the bag but it was just too heavy. One woman went so far as to say I should imagine myself walking from the train station to the bus carrying this bag full of stuff. I apologized and said ma'am, I am a teacher, farmer and knitter, and frequently need to carry lots of stuff. She was not satisfied with that excuse and hurriedly exited my booth. It wasn't too long after that when a rather small woman came in, picked up the same bag, tried it on her shoulder (it went down to her knees), looked inside and outside several times, then came over to me and plunked down the money. There IS a PERSON for every BAG!!! It's only a matter of time before they find each other!

Somthing similar happened to me one time, too...I'd made a hat of odds & ends of yarn and it looked STRANGE, but I threw it in the bag with the rest of the hats and took it to a show...It was the first one to sell, with the buyer screaming "OH! I've been looking for a hat like this ALL my LIFE!"
