First Day in San Jose

Annie and I got up around 5 and drank strong coffee with her world famous biscotti and homemade marmalade. Eric got up and we chatted around the kitchen table until dawn. Luke got up and asked me if I would help him with his knitting. He puts the needle in the loop and I wrap the yarn around it before he pulls it through. Team knitting! Hannah and Luke had dentist appointments locally so we piled in the Jeep and went over to the complex just 5 minutes away. Everything seems to be close-by here, in the heart of Silicon Valley. There are all the big name stores you could possibly want, including Whole Foods and Joann's Fabrics. We ate lunch at McD's and got Hannah's curtain fabric. I brought Luke's curtain fabric from home. I will feel like a real Omi doing some sewing for them this visit. Eric is expected any time with Uncle AJ who flew to San Francisco, a half hour away, to spend Christmas with us. He will go to Las Vegas from here, where he is still a member of the National Guard unit there, to do Homeland Security duty on the Strip on New Year's Eve. Tough duty, huh? Some guys have all the fun!
