Monday Musings

After my artsy weekend in Syracuse I wanted to do something crafty with my school kids.
I carried in my little Singer Featherweight so we could get to work on our Christmas stockings. The school won't spend any State of Federal money on Christmas activities but they don't mind if we fund them ourselves. I found some lovely, Christmas tapestry fabric in the tractor shed and brought it in so the students could make their own stockings. We painted a stand-up tri-folder like a fireplace to hang the little stockings on. The kids took to it right away and even the boys were anxious to cut out and sew their stockings. Others made more ornaments for our little tree. We haven't purchased any ornaments - they're all homemade and really cute. Santa Claus will come and fill up the stockings with candy and maybe a bar of soap! On the home front, it's cold now and snow is forecast. Barn chores require suiting up in long underwear and Carhartts Cold weather makes everybody even thirstier and water is always an issue. I'm still carrying around this cold virus and hope to conquer it before the weekend. Little Luna is thriving on milk replacer. What a gorgeous lamb. Lilly is anxious to get out of the corridor behind the stanchions where I put them when Luna is born. I want to bring them forward in the barn where Lilly and Luna can do more socializing with the other sheep. No more births, but they will come any minute now. I will be sewing, sewing, sewing for the Delaware Riverkeeper show this weekend in New Hope, Pa. I'm set for soap. Sadly, my source for shaving brushes is out of stock and all others are way too expensive. Might have to save them for Maryland, which will be here before we know it on May 1. Four months to get ready. I think that might be enough time, with good health, wood for the stove and money for the light bill. Better get to work...
