Big News!

My son, Eric, Hannah and Luke's father, has been promoted and will move his family to the Dallas, Texas area where he will join the National Boy Scouts of America staff. Eric will be in charge of the creation of a 10,000 acre permanent Boy Scout facility and adventure center on the New River in West Virginia. The New River facility will replace the current BSA Jamboree site at Fort AP Hill, Virginia. This is a big deal for Eric and his family and we are very proud of him. Part of his job will be to raise 20 million dollars to augment the 50 million dollar gift from the Bechtel Family. If anyone can raise 20 million Eric can. He is one smooth operator. Eric and Annie are currently house shopping in the Dallas area. Here they are looking at pictures Eric sent from Flower Mound, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, of a beautiful, palatial brick house with mature trees and a swimming pool. Annie will fly home with the kids and pack up their San Jose house and get the family and pets ready to move before school starts. I'm very proud of Eric and his success in the Boy Scouts.

Awesome news Maggie! Flower Mound is a beautiful area - I have a couple of friends who live in the area.

Both my sons are Boy Scouts -- started as wee little Tigers 7 and 9 years ago. It's nice to see that good people end up at National. When your focus is very local, as mine is, you have no idea what the big picture is like!

Anyway -- congrats to all, and best wishes for an unadventurous move.

Thank you Cate and Sherry. I'm so happy for my kiddos and their parents. There is actually a flower mound in the town, covered with 12 acres of wildflowers. Very cool name. The Boy Scouts was marvelous for my two boys, and both became Eagles. May the BSA live long and prosper. It will if my son has anything to do with it.
