Off to the Creek with Auntie Mia

Luke wanted to take Auntie Mia to the creek so off we went. What a lovely, sublime, exquisitely wonderful time we had. We tried to have a camp fire, but the thunderstorms left us with nothing to burn, and everything so wet not even gasoline would kindle a blaze. By that time it was after 10, so we set about rounding up the sheep. Mia and Hannah took the upper field and spread out in the moonless night to find the little groups of grazers. Luke and I took the lower field, but he wanted to join the girls. He pronounced, "I'm not afraid of the dark!" and took off after them. Mia and Hannah were lying on the grass doing some serious star/planet watching when he found them. We got most of the wooly critters in (we discovered the stragglers in the morning) and came in to watch The Two Towers. Everyone fell asleep but me, as I was trying to stay awake for my favorite part of the whole trilogy - the Revenge of the Ents led by Treebeard - which was disappointingly blipped out by the faulty DVD!!! Gave up and went to bed at 2:30. Vacation - how wonderful.
