Thor is taking a rest after night duty. When we're up so much at night for lambing and kidding we realize just how hard Thor works to protect us. He is a "close guarder" and runs all around the barnyard, barking into the night, making sure no predators dare come into his territory. Matt heard a coyote singing on the ridge side of the farm one night and saw Thor rush over there to check it out. The next day Thor kept going to the same area, probably to pee around and leave his scent as if to say "I'm the marshall in this town." He listens to the barking of the dogs across the valley, and reads the messages like a telegraph line, anticipating what might be coming this way. When morning comes he takes a rest to get ready for the next night's work.
