Getting Cold

I flipped on the baseboard heater in the bathroom this morning - a sure sign winter is coming. I still put shorts on after work to do my chores and now, at 8 pm, find that I'm cold. My winter barn boots are still good, but I need some warm barn pants. The quilted Carhartts are just too stiff for me. I'm hoping to get myself some insulated stretch ski pants. They are wonderful in the barn where I am always bending and stretching, climbing ladders and what-not. My sewing machines are done and I am just about to try them out. The guy called yesterday but the teacher who mistakenly got the message just told me today (!?!). I was so excited I went out into the hall and called him right away. Guess who got a reprimand email from the principal, who happened to be walking by, for making phone calls during "instructional time?" It's rather hurtful considering I didn't have a phone at all for two years and listened to other teachers making/receiving calls all the time at their desks and had to borrow their phones to make an occasional call. Matt doesn't like to get calls during the day (!?!) so that's not a problem, but I do need to call the vet once in a while. I was also reprimanded for being late - now that I deserve! Have to tell the critters Mommy has to get out of the barn earlier. Jan's barn is coming along nicely. Matt wishes he could be the contractor in charge...but he spent many hours on the phone interviewing contractors and making sure she and Dave got the best price possible, and the best people, saving them many thousands of dollars and lots of worry. Better get back to work, making Matt's dinner, feeding the kittens whose mother decided to run away, and figuring out what to wear tomorrow. That alone will get me out of the house earlier.
