High Flying Chicks
The batch of chicks born in the Little Lamb Fine Dineing creep feeder is growing up. Incredibly, most of them survived. I was either too busy, or too slow to catch them all and house them in a rabbit cage with the mother hen, the way I usually do with newborns. Mom started taking the ones who can make it up high in the beams to roost. Sadly, all of them can't fly that high, and they group together in top of the wooden stanchions under the more capable siblings. The cats have been leaving them alone, I noticed, so I haven't interfered. Mom "talks" to them from up high, telling them everything will be alright, I'm close by. If everyone had a mother hen the world would be a better place.
