Chicks Growing Up

The chicks I housed in rabbit cages are growing up. I need more eggs! I am spending way too much on chicken feed compared to what I am getting back in eggs. I have too many roosters, and a few older hens who are finished laying their finite number of eggs (around 300 I think). They are more like pets now. I love my spunky Olde English Bantams (a gift from Mary the Long Distance Rider turned Shepherd). They don't have any problem fighting off cats who harass them. I have a banty hen in the Little Lamb Fine Dineing creep box sitting on eggs right now. I pray I find them before the cats do. I have the rabbit cages waiting. I keep them housed in the cages until they are big enough not to be chicken nuggets for hungry cats.
